How To Get Rid Of A Tan?

Have you ever went tanning and then realized certain parts of your body were darker than others or you had blotches? Or, did you turn out darker than you’d anticipated? Don’t worry because there are many ways to get rid of a tan.

Do It Yourself

While you may not be able to get rid of a tan overnight, there are a few simple things you can do in order to speed up the process. When you leave the house put on sun screen to make sure you don’t continue getting darker.

If you; like so many other people out there, hate applying sun screen then stay indoors and avoid the sun as much as you can. Either way, this is going to help get your skin back to looking beautiful again.

Exfoliating is one of the most popular ways to get rid of an unwanted tan. Exfoliating gets rid of your dead skin cells, allowing the cells underneath to appear quicker. Doing this on a regular basis is going to give you great results.

Soaking in a warm bath while exfoliating is not only relaxing but great for your skin’s healing process as well. Mixing baking soda in with the bath water will do wonders. You can also use dry baking soda as an exfoliating tool.

Hydrogen peroxide is another great healing tool. While commonly used on cuts or scrapes, it’s a very nice healing agent for other things; like your skin. Apply Hydrogen peroxide to small areas of your body, like your hands for example; where you have a darker tan than desired.

Stay Moisturized

A tan is basically a sun burn but in a smaller degree. This is why it’s very important to keep your skin moisturized. Soaking in the bath is great as well as using lotions to keep your skin hydrated so it can heal faster. As your skin heals, the tan will fade.

No matter which route you decide to take, it’s important to be gentle. Try to stick with one treatment and not do too many things at once. Excessively scrubbing your skin is only going to cause irritation and pain.

If you decide to use baby oil instead of baking soda; that is fine but try not to use both of them at the same time. As with anything, it’s a good idea to start small and work your way up. You may be allergic to certain chemicals so it’s always a good idea to do a mini test-run on a small portion of your body and see how it reacts.
