How To Get Rid Of Stuffy Ear?

Stuffy ears can be caused by a variety of things. This type of issue doesn’t just occur when you are sick but can happen at seemingly random times. Here are a few ways to get rid of stuffy ear.

Possible Causes

Right off the bat, you’re going to want to think about what may have caused this to begin with. Are you feeling sick? Do you have allergies? Did you just get off of an airplane? Are you feeling pain or just discomfort?

Elevation Changes

If you have recently been on a plane, there may be a pressure imbalance in your ear; which is stopping your eardrum from vibrating. If this is the problem, you will commonly have a hard time hearing and be experiencing some pain. For most people, yawning or chewing gum are simple fixes that allow more air into your ears; evening things out again.

Another reason you may be experiencing pain is because there is some sort of blockage in your ear. If this is the case, you need to seek medical attention. Your doctor will be able to look inside your ear and find what it is that needs to be removed.

Colds, Infections and Allergies

A lot of the time, colds can cause congestion. In this case, decongestants may be taken in order to get you feeling normal again. If you are experiencing the symptoms of a sinus infection, nasal saline drops can be used.

Be careful with these though, because if you use them for too long; your body can need them in order to stay unclogged. Read the directions and follow them very closely. If you are having an allergic reaction, antihistamines will help.

Simple Problems

While this may seem a bit strange, one of the most common reasons for stuffy ear is built up wax. It is a good idea to get your ears cleaned. You can either have this professionally done or you can do it from home with something called an Ear Syringe.

The Syringe comes with a salt/water mixture that when applied inside the ear helps eat away at the built up wax; allowing it to fall out as it’s meant to and get rid of stuffy ear.

Doctors Can Help

Typically, the solutions listed above are going to work but if you’re still having issues with stuffy ears; it’s time to speak with your doctor. They may prescribe you antibiotics/steroids that will help get you feeling better again.
