Frequent urination affects many people around the world. The problem can be very embarrassing and affect many aspects of a person’s life.

What Causes Frequent Urination
Before we can get into the solutions for how to get rid of frequent urination, let’s discuss exactly what it is and what some of the most common causes are.
Going to the bathroom anywhere from a few times up to 8 times a day is normal, but when you are going much more than this and waking up during the night to go, this is a problem. Not only does it limit what you can do but it also affects your rest.
If you are experiencing fever and discomfort in your abdomen, you may have a urinary tract infection. The early stages of Diabetes are typically accompanied by frequent urination as your body is trying to get rid of the excess glucose.
Pregnancy is also another reason for frequent urination as the uterus begins growing in size and pressing on the bladder; causing you to have to use the restroom more often. (The same goes for a male with prostate problems; an enlarged prostate can begin pressing on the urethra, causing the frequent need to go)
If you do not know the reason for your frequent urination already, it may be time to talk with your doctor. They are going to give you a physical exam and look at all your medical history (probably asking about your family members as well) to better determine what is going on.
Be sure to pay close attention to any discomfort you are feeling and any other symptoms that may be associated. Even if you think something isn’t worth mentioning, it may just be that extra bit of information your doctor needs in order to help alleviate the problem.
How to get rid of frequent urination depends on what is causing the problem in the first place. If you have diabetes for example, your doctor is going to take steps to keep your blood sugar levels at a more normal level.
If you are overweight and this extra pressure is causing you to have leaking; then you will need to work on exercising more and eating a more balanced diet. Things like avoiding drinking before you go to bed are great ways to not have your sleep interrupted anymore.
Your doctor may want you to do Kegel exercises in order to strengthen your bladder’s ability to hold urine for longer amounts of time. If OK’d by your doctor, you may want to also strengthen what your bladder can hold by not using the bathroom for a certain amount of time. Over a few weeks, you should be able to increase the amount of time between bathroom breaks.
