Karan Johar invites Saurav Ganguly “Koffee with Karan”
New Delhi, Feb 24 : Karan Johar is going to invite former Indian Captain Saurav Ganguly on his chat show “Koffe with Karan”. Star cricketer Sourav Ganguly could soon become the first non-film personality to be having “Koffee with Karan”, a popular chat show.
The episode featuring former India captain Ganguly, who is on a much talked about comeback trail, could be recorded before he leaves with the team to the West Indies for the World Cup March 1, said reliable sources. Johar has already announced that he would be inviting non-film personalities in the second season of the chat show but has not disclosed any names.
Karan Johar and Saurav Ganguly met not long ago and the filmmaker told him that he would be inviting him to feature in his programme. “When the two met, possibly for the first time, they exchanged mobile numbers and Johar told him that he would be inviting non-film personalities to his show,” said a close aide. “Ganguly agreed to Johar’s idea, and he could be seen talking to him over a cup of coffee on the sets.” Ganguly made a comeback to the national team after 10 months when he joined the squad in South Africa late last year, and has been performing consistently since.
Kolkata celebrates as Sourav Ganguly returns to form in ODI
Kolkata, Jan 21 : DADA is back !! Kolkata celebrated as Sourav Ganguly made a majestic return to one-day international cricket Sunday, leading India to victory over the West Indies at Nagpur.
Ganguly made a hero’s return scoring 98 before he was run out – inches short of his 23rd ton.
Die-hard Sourav fans in this hometown of the former skipper came out on streets with placards and posters chanting ‘dada, dada’.
Huge garlanded posters of Sourav were flaunted by the fans as city cricketers once again demanded that he be reinstated as captain.
Former Bengal captain Raju Mukherjee said: “There is no other alternative than to make him captain of the Indian team. He is just brilliant.”
Devang Gandhi, Ganguly’s Ranji teammate, said: “He has always been extraordinary as an opener in the shorter version of the game. Once again he showed today why he is considered so good.
India beat West Indies by 14 runs
Nagpur, Jan 21 : A fine unbeaten 149 by Shivnarine Chanderpaul went in vain as the West Indies lost by 14 runs against India in the first one-day international here Sunday.
In a match that went down the wire, the West Indies made 324 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs in answer to India’s 338 for three, powered by a fine 98 by Sourav Ganguly, at the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium here.

Saurav Ganguly hopes to make a strong comeback
After his good performance in the test series in South Africa and scoring a century in the Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan, the ‘Bengal tiger’ Saurav Ganguly is hoping to make a comeback in the Indian cricket team, which he used to lead , once upon a time. He is trying to please the selectors to give him a chance in the squad for the home series against the West Indies.
In the recent Ranji trophy match against Rajasthan, Saurav Ganguly sored a whooping 122 runs in just 118 balls, hitting the ball 21 times beyond the boundary. While talking with the reporters Saurav Ganguly said,” I know people have been talking about me opening in the One Day Internationals and many people have asked me about it. I have opened the batting in one-dayers in the past many times, so I have no problems. If I am asked to open, then I will do so.” Ganguly is confident that his recent performance would surely steal apposition for him in the ODI team.

Sourav Gangly has been selected to the Indian cricket team after a 10 month exile. Dada, as Saurav is called, is returning to the Test cricket team after a lot of debates and discussions.
The national selectors announced the inclusion of Ganguly in the team which will play South Africa in the three test series. After a dismal performance in the one day series, there was a lot of commotion all over the country for some change and even the Indian parliament discussed the issue. Laxman has been appointed the vice captain to replace Virender Sehwag.
Dravid remains the captain. Ganguly’s inclusion to the team was after a lot of discussions with the BCCI president personally meeting Vengsarkar at the selection committee meeting. This is a golden opportunity for Ganguly to prove that he is back and prove all his detractors wrong.
A New ‘Mahishasura’ this Durga Puja: Greg Chappel
With Saurav Ganguly’s return to the Indian Cricket Team still uncertain, a puja organizer in Kolkata is seeking divine intervention by depicting coach Greg Chappell as the demon ‘Mahishasura’ during the next month’s Durga Puja.
The North Kolkata puja organizer has asked a Kumartuli sculptor to depict the Australian as Mahishasura, the evil demon who is eliminated by Goddess Durga.
“The people in our locality have very strong sentiments against Chappell for his role in omitting of Ganguly from the Indian Team and that is why we have decided to depict Chappell as Mahishasura this year,” a member of the Deshbandhu Road Puja Committee in Baranagar said.
“Ganguly is very dear to us and we want to express our sentiments in this manner,” another member of the committee said.
